Overview

The CSS is an academic center of competence that specializes in research, teaching and information services. It also acts as a consultant to various political bodies and the general public and is engaged in research projects with a number of Swiss and international partners.

The CSS is a member of the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS) of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich.

 

Teaching

The CSS is involved in the teaching of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree course for prospective professional military officers in the Swiss Army. It also offers specialized courses to ETH Zurich and University of Zurich students.

The CSS further offers a part-time 18-month Executive Masters degree program in Security Policy and Crisis Management (MAS ETH SPCM) at ETH Zurich for experienced senior executives and mangers from the private and public sectors, the policy community and the armed forces.

The CSS has a mandate from the Swiss government to run the International Relations and Security Network (ISN), and, in cooperation with partner institutes, also runs the following Specialized Networks:
